Works well and great customer service
If you’ve been looking for a vacuum sealer in the $100 range, you know it’s a very crowded field, with a lot of products that look similar and have similar specs. How to choose? I already had one that was rated tops by ATK. It lasted just a few months out of warranty. So, I chose this Gasbye unit because of the 5 year warranty and high marks in the reviews. In addition to the length of the warranty, Gasbye states: “ If you purchased our vacuum sealer based on a statement in our listing and feel it doesn't meet your expectations after use, you can directly contact Gasbye Support for a 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟 𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗗 or 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧. In addition, all replacement units we provide are 𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐖, not refurbished. You can trust Gasbye—we stand behind our products with confidence”. I really don’t think you can beat that!I used the sealer for about an hour the other day. I works exactly as it should, pulling a strong vacuum and making a wide, complete seal even in “moist” mode. I hope it continues to perform well for years to come, but if it doesn’t, I’m confident the company will make it right. The only slight negative with the unit is that it’s a little slower than the N****, but not inconveniently so.

Very good choice
We had a Food Saver machine for many years that did a very good job. What we didn't like about it was you had to shove the bag into a slot where you couldn't see if it was flat or not. Many times it had a fold in the bag and wouldn't seal properly - we would frequently manually do a double seal. This new machine has a lid you open and then lay the bag flat and then close the lid - you can actually see how the bag is laying flat or not. One of the features of this machine is the double seal option - we use it every time and there is no doubt that the bag is vacuumed very well.

Well built and vacuums powerful
This is my 4th sealer in 30 years. The first two were Foodsaver brands that had plastic levers to lock the machine before vacuuming. Those broke off pretty quickly. The 3rd one lasted over 10 years, but the sealer strip got wore down and was actually melting the bag through at one point. Contacted the company and they no longer sold sealers. So after review searching, I settled on this product. After a cursory glance at the instructions, I set to work to start using it. If using the cutting blade, you have to lift the bar up, put the bag down to the length you want, then lower the bar back down. At first I just laid the bag on top and that didn't work. Had to go back to the instructions and give it more than a cursory glance. The back of the machine has an area to store the cord so it's not laying loose when you store it. The sides of the machine have indentations so you can easily lift the machine up. The best feature is how it locks. You push down on the bar and it locks ... simple and easy. Once it's done (there's a large "no glasses needed to see" countdown timer to let you know when it's done) wait a second and then you can simply lift up on the bar. No plastic levers. The vacuum hose for containers also has a built in spot in the top, so you won't lose it in a drawer or even forget where you put it like other machines. I haven't used all the functions yet, just the "dry", "moist" and "seal only" functions. This machine is powerful. It sucks the air out quickly and completely. The only downside, is it takes a while to seal. Anywhere between 22-30 seconds. But the seal is good, strong, and pretty wide compared to my other sealers. I have found that if you are sealing heavier products, you want to lift them up as they vacuum to get a really good suction. It comes with an extra sealing strip. I also like the drip tray comes out for easy cleaning. This isn't a small machine. Read the dimensions on the product description. Also, it's hefty, but that's a good thing in my mind. All in all, I'm impressed with the quality of the machine. Lastly, pay attention to not lock the lid while it's in storage. It's easy to, but that will keep the strip compressed and you'll wear it out faster ... according to the instructions. If you get this product, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This is a great vacuum sealer!
Let me start by saying that that I have been vacuum sealing for years. I had an old FoodSaver®️ brand that I got from a garage sale, but unfortunately it finally quit working. So, after a few months of not having one, I decided to start looking for a new one. After a lot of research and reading a lot of reviews, many hours worth, I decided to get the Gasbye VS5166. Not only did it have a lot of great reviews, and a great price, but the 5 year warranty really sold me on it.It arrived a day earlier than expected (kudos Amazon & UPS), which made me happy, as I was anxious to start using it. It came well packaged, and included a roll of vacuum bags and a few premade bags as well. The instructions were straightforward, easy to understand and follow. I read the instructions, got it all set up and got started. The buttons are intuitive and easy to understand. I like the removable drip tray, options to pulse seal a bag, and the fact that it has the option to double seal the bags if you need to. It includes an air suction hose (many brands don’t) for vacuum seal food canisters (not included, but Gasbye informed me they plan on offering one in March) and mason jar sealer’s, either of which can be purchased on Amazon. Now, on to my testing: The roll cutter (so you can make custom sized bags) is easy to use and works great with a nice smooth motion. For my testing, I used the roll and precut bags that came with it, and some leftover FoodSaver®️and Bosenkitchen vacuum rolls that I had.I started by vacuum sealing some dry goods that I buy in bulk (almonds, pepitas, dry beans etc.), to see how well the seal holds up on non refrigerated or frozen items.Next I vacuum sealed over a dozen boneless skinless chicken breast halves (my local grocery had a really good sale on them), some for freezing and some for Sous Vide. Then I went on to fresh produce (celery, bell peppers, carrots etc.) for freezing. The Gasbye performed great, with good suction power and worked equally well with all the different brands of bags. It’s been over a week now, and none of the bags have lost their seal, including the ones I used to Sous Vide in. If that changes, I’ll update that here.I am very happy with my purchase, and recommend it.
