Must have
A Game-Changer for Home Bread Makers! As someone new to bread making with a machine, slicing the loaf evenly was a real struggle—especially with softer, fresh-baked bread. I tried various slicing gadgets, including some vertical slicers, but none gave consistent results. Then I came across the SimpleSlice, and what a difference it has made! This is honestly one of the most useful kitchen tools I’ve bought. The design is minimalist but incredibly effective. It offers three adjustable slice widths, so I can get perfectly even slices every time—whether for toast or sandwiches. It also has a clever edge stopper and safety features that allow you to slice down to the last piece without worrying about your fingers.Made of sturdy steel, it feels built to last, and it doesn’t take up much space when stored. I do use a non-slip mat underneath just to keep it stable while cutting, but that’s a small thing. My only tiny wish is for a built-in crumb catcher—but it’s easy enough to clean up afterwards. All in all, this has made slicing homemade bread effortless and enjoyable. If you bake your own bread, don’t hesitate—this tool is a must-have!

Cuts perfect slices with no moving parts to go wrong or break off
This is a ridiculously simple concept but so effective. The stand is metal with a removable white cutting board that sits in the bottom so that if you have a sticky loaf you can easily wash it. It is angled slightly upwards so has one side with short legs and one side slightly longer, which makes it a really comfortable cutting angle, and it has three narrow slits that run horizontally almost the full length of the unit for thin, medium or thick slices. The principal is that you put your blade through one of the slits at one side and match it up with the corresponding slit on the other. Put your bread short end down and then cut horizontally keeping your knife in the slots, whilst holding the bread in place with the other hand - well clear of the knife. The resultant slices are perfectly straight every time and it doesn't matter if you are right or left handed. Unless you have a particularly chunky bread knife it should work with whatever you already use - I didn't have to buy anything special. The base is plenty big enough. My loaves are made with 500 grams of flour and easily fit width-wise, and would almost fit sideways on so the next size up on my bread maker wouldn't be a problem. If you were cutting a wide flat loaf, like tiger bread, it would easily fit sideways. The only slight negative is that the taller feet are thin metal, so whilst completely sturdy they can skid about a bit on the work surface if you don't hold the bread against the side, but this was easily overcome and should certainly not put you off buying one. The addition of little rubber ends would have improved it to make it perfect, but that is only a small suggestion. It now means I can use all the loaf instead of being left with a horrible triangular lump that you can't cut a slice from without fear of losing a finger.

Good, cuts bread well and simple to use
I have been using this now for some considerable time and here is what I have discovered. Watch a video on YouTube to see how it works as the one I had, had no instructions. There are a few minor issues: Cutting heavier home made breads regularly, does eventually deform the guides somewhat and they do not bend back. This does make the slices slightly uneven, but the Simpleslice is well made enough to cope with this and does not feel like it will break. Make sure you have a long bread Knife and it is not too serrated. Finally, I have found it is easier to slice almost all the way through the bread, then flip the loaf up to do the final cut upright to stop the bread breaking up, especially with bread a few days old.

Simple very effective gadget, robust design, easy to store
Fantastic piece of kit, makes slicing bread so simple and so safe down to the last slice. Such a simple gadget yet so effective, I’ve never been too good at cutting straight slices of bread or getting the thicknesses right….this gadget allows you to select three thicknesses of bread, it has a safety feature which means you can slice down to the last piece of bread without cutting your hand. It contains a small bread board and catches crumbs, I love that it’s very simple in design and easy to store. Nothing negative to say about it - very robust, made of steel so it’s never going to break,

Not bad, not brilliant
Useful for difficult to cut, floppy loaves, but the whole premise is a bit queer - the weight of the bread sits on the knife while cutting making it curiously a little awkward to extract the knife sometimes. Also, the end of the cut with a soft loaf is a bit hit and miss because of course you're not cutting down onto a board. Also, without the rubber tap washers I glued to each end of the back guide cut-outs (on the reverse side) I or may partner (who is oppositely handed) would be catching the knife on the metal at the end of many cuts. With all these riders though, I use it a fair deal and it is well made.

Easy slice
This is such a simple idea yet is possibly one of the best kitchen gadgets I’ve ever purchased. My home made bread has never been so easy to cut and each slice is perfectly cut into the required thickness. Buy this and you won’t regret it.

Great to start with but not durable
Was happy to find this product as couldn’t find any other cutting guide that would accommodate the large sourdough loaves I wanted to slice. Was great to start with and I was really happy to be getting consistent slices from my bread without the dreaded door wedge by the time you get to the end of the loaf. However, after a couple of months, one of the guide bars started to warp, almost as if it had expanded beyond its original size, and this made cutting bread really difficult, to the point that my (expensive) bread knife was starting to grate against the bar because it was starting to come it at an angle. So I now have a not so useful slice guide and a damaged knife after not very long.
