Well made - hope they stand the test of time.
I bought two of these to replace 2 similar units outside our home. (The old ones had lasted 15 years, which is more than I would have expected.) As another reviewer has commented, the first one I fitted didn't work but a little "giggling" of the bulb fixed the problem. It took a couple of days to trial and error to get the sensitivity and duration where I wanted them but all in all, for the price I can't complain. As for longevity, yes, these are predominantly plastic construction but both the light housing and the terminal box appear well sealed with rubber grommets - if these last 15 years, I'll be very happy!

Very Poor
Arrived in time, Fitted well unit is a bit "plasticy" usual fitting for a security light, undo cover, grommit over flex, etc easy fitting to wall, (i have done a few)set it all up P.I.R sensor etc.Worked for a week!!! Still comes on sporadicaly (in the daytime!!!)I have it under a carport( not that it helped me!) But i wouldent want to have it outside open to the elements, as the glass is loose fitting also the outer shroud is loose, and the gasket/seal that comes with it is loose and of poor quality. You must try and hold the seal into shallow channels as you move the loose fitting shroud up, i suppose you could coat the outside seal with silicone, but you would have to reapply the silicone everytime you needed to change the bulb. All in all Cr*p. I know the E.U is banning halogens and replaceing with LED so ill have to see what they are like. As it seems that the companys still doing halogens are just selling poor stock.

Quite awkward to make adjustments once fitted.
The whole unit is quite lightweight compared to others I have had although they are all pretty much identical units. As others have said the mounting bar is quite flimsy and I wonder if, in high winds, this contibutes to false activations. The sensor housing also seems quite loosely attached to the main body.Easier to install than a unit with a stand alone sensor as only requires the one cable. The adjustments buttons are small and sit below the sensor unit so when it is up on the wall they are quite awkward to make adjustments to. When I first installed the light it was coming on for a few seconds on detection but would then repeat this about eight times before going off however after a lot of fiddling I think I have got it set to what I want and it seems ok. I just hope I do not have to make any alterations to the settings I have got it on. In hindsight I would not purchase a similar unit again but would go back to a light with a stand alone detector.

Well made security lamp.
Well protected in box, 400watt halogen bulb included, separate. First- check clearances etc around proposed location of unit, mark positions for affixing screws then separate lamp from mounting bracket for ease of affixing the bracket. Second- insert bulb (I substituted a 120watt bulb for location 7feet above ground in a side alley as I thought 5400wattwould be too blinding) Thirdly- affix a "safety line" to prevent the unit crashing to the ground if it slips out of hand while attempting to re-insert the screws holding the unit to the bracket. Four - attach unit to bracket. Five - adjust variable controls. I found that even when "LUX" is turned right down as far as it goes, - the unit still responds to movement during daylight.
