Lodge, Assist Holder Silicone Black

Works well on my cast iron that have the support handle.

I bought this as an add-on to a 15-inch Lodge skillet. The skillet is HUGE. I am glad I purchased this handle, as I cannot move the skillet to the over to finish steaks or other meals without this handle. Seriously, it is a HUGE skillet that takes two hands to carry. This handle works great, but you don't want to hold a hot skillet with it too long, as your hand will start to get really warm. It is good for quick trips to the oven, or to reposition the pan.

This slides nicely over the small handles of my lodge pans. It's not a tight fit, so don't expect that. It just covers it so you can move it from one burner to another. It can't really STAY on the pan while cooking as it starts to absorb heat after a while. I keep it next to the stove when I cook and just pop it on when I need it. The Lodge hot handle holder that goes on the long pan handle doesn't come on or off as easily, so it just stays on the pan all the time. It's insulating enough that I can move the pan without injury, but still rather warm.

This handle cover is terrific, truly didn't think I needed it however it is so much better than trying to use an oven mitt and excellent for removing the pan from the oven.

They don't stay on like I had thought they would. They kind of just slip over the handle and are loose. The grip is good enough that I don't feel like it will slip off while I am carrying the pan but I sort of thought when I bought it that I would install it on the handle and there it would stay permanently. I had to adjust my expectation and think of it more as a pot holder concept instead of a handle sleeve. I don't think I would have bought it if I knew that at the time. I already have pot holders and they are universal, not just designed for a specific pan.

This holder for the assist handle on Lodge large pans is great for when we have a very full pan. The cast iron plus the weight of the food is more than one can easily lift with only one hand. So the assist handle is great, but if this silicone sleeve isn't used, a pot holder is necessary and can get in the way.This thing has saved our hands a few times since we use the cast iron pan a lot and move it from the burner to pour or put on a trivet on the table.Definitely recommend.

These are by Lodge, which means they were meant to be used on your cast iron pots with tab type handles. BUT, they are just great for other pot types as well. I have a stainless steel pot with shallow u-shaped (or c shaped) handles at each side of the pot and a similar handle on the lid. These silicone handle holders fit over these handles beautifully, allowing me to carry the pot to the table and set it right on the trivet. I leave the holders on the lid handle so we can serve up without bulky potholders or burned fingers.Great product!
