It DOES dissolve.
This works great as a simpler alternative to Citrucel. To dissolve, add to a jar of very warm water (super hot might not work), shake and let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes. Shake it a few times during that time. It will be perfectly dissolved. I add some flavored electrolyte powder to make it taste fruity.

Doesn’t dissolve, tastes like chemical
The package says to dissolve in cold water. I tried fridge cold water, ice water, cold tap water, room temp, and warm water from the tap. Disgusting clumps every time. I also tried to blend it but it made a stiff egg white mix that’s not drinkable. I tried mixing into liquid iv also didn’t work at multiple temps. I bought this to avoid sugar so I’m not going to waste money on juice. I can’t return it - Amazon won’t let me, so I’m very unhappy. Mostly unhappy it doesn’t work and I try to chose like it down but it causes me to gag esp with the chemical taste.

Works Great as a Binder or to remove animal hide glue
I used about a full tablespoon in one cup of warm water. It mixed together nicely but took about half an hour to 45 minutes to really thicken up. I was using the mixture to remove an animal hide glue from the spine of a book. I spread a decent layer of the mixture over the spine of the book and let it sit for about half an hour. After letting it sit for a bit the most of the glue was softened and scraped right off, it only took one more treatment to full clean the spine of glue. This tub will definitely last me a long time but i will definitely be buying again if i ever need more

When can get it dissolved, works well
I wanted methyl cellulose without all the sugar & additives so ordered this. Almost returned because of problem getting it dissolved properly & completely. After reading a few reviews, dissolved in small amount of very warm water. Added cold water which made it very thick. Then requested a return. Before sending back, decided to dilute with slightly warm liquid. That did the trick as hot water causes globs to form. It's very tricky to get the correct temp of liquid for diluting to avoid thickening or forming globs. But when in my system, it works extremely well.

VIP Tip for preparing!
Here’s a tip: although the directions say mix with cold water, this powder actually only dissolves in hot water or juice. Add a small amount of powder at a time, stirring constantly, and it works well. Clean up with hot water ASAP too.

Chemical aftertaste
This has a chemical aftertaste. I don't know if that is the way it is supposed to taste as it is unflavored, but I expected it to be flavorless. I gave 3 stars because I do not know if all unflavored methylcellulose tastes this way.Update 5/11/2022: The company contacted me and offered me a full refund. Very pleased.Has anyone had the same taste experience with unflavored methylcellulose? Please leave a comment!

Rip-Off
This product does not dissolve as stated in cold water or any water. It clumps. I called customer service twice, no one ever answers or return calls. Earthborn Elements not reputable.

Does not seem to work for binding veggie burgers.
I wanted to try this product because it’s much cheaper than the Modernist Pantry version, but somehow it must be different, because it did not seem to work as a binding agent for my veggie burger recipe. So if anybody else was wondering about this, now you know.
