Serious Pros & Cons….
I’m going to try and keep this short.I had owned an S62 golf watch prior to this and I really liked it. On the golf course, it did exactly what it was meant to do and it did so accurately and reliably. But, when it came to being a smartwatch, it was somewhat limited. So, I thought I’d step up to a nicer model.Oh, as a golf watch, I’ll give the S62 an 8.5/10 and as a smartwatch 7.5/10.Stepping up to the Fenix 8 has been a big mistake. I Jean, I really, really regret this purchase.I’ll admit that it is a superior smartwatch. Easily a 9.3/10. It does what it claims to do without any issue. I like it. No problems. The Fenix 8 as a golf watch is pure junk. It promised to do so much more than the S62, but it barely even delivers on the basics. It hardly ever prompts me after a shot to enter the club I used. About a third of my shots don’t even make it to the shot map at tte end of the round. The virtual caddy has stopped functioning after the last few updates. Now it just shows a giant red exclamation point. The layout of the hole has now become absent from the watchface. I have to scroll through the option screens for it to show, but then it goes away again. These are all things that the S62 did round after round with no problem. Should I expect a watch costing this much to do what it claims it’s capable of doing? Absolutely. As a golf watch, I’ll give it a 4/10. It’s a piece of garbage. I wish I would’ve kept my S62, but I gave it to a friend. He’s out there loving it on the course and my watch that cost three times more is junk on the course and he s completely unreliable. I feel ripped off.Now they’ve released a new model and they’ll probably never update my 4 month old watch again. Screw you Garmin.
