Every now and then (very rarely) I discover a product that so totally jazzes me that I have to tell all my family and friends about it, and, if the item is low-cost, I'll buy a bunch to give as gifts. These MalloMe LED Lanterns are amazing and low-cost and I've given a bunch away and will be buying more to give away.Where I live, we have a mismanaged electric utility that recently and deliberately turned off power to thousands of folks in a rather haphazard manner in order to "protect" us from the utility's own incompetence. Consequently, I had many neighbors without electrical power, and a recently-purchased supply of these brilliant lanterns, which I gave away and made new friends.These lanterns are incredibly bright, but the output can be very simply dimmed. These are sturdy but lightweight and come with the necessary 3 AA batteries, which last a long time with the efficient LED light source.First as a Boy Scout, then a wilderness backpacker, then as a Firefighter, I've had a sort of obsession with flashlights and other small portable lighting devices. The amazing lanterns are among my all-time favorites.I'm going to buy a bunch more of these lanterns for gifts, for both adults and children.I recommend that EVERYONE purchase at least a four-pack of these lanterns for emergency household lighting.Keep a few in the trunk of your car, too.

This is my second order of these lanterns. They are great, lightweight, and very easy to use...just pull them up. The only thing that would be better is if they came with batteries. I ordered them after having an 18 hour power outage...so now I'm really ready for the next one.

I was looking for a reasonably priced portable set of lights, and after reading several Amazon reviews and looking at various options, decided to go with the MalloMe LED lanterns. I'm very satisfied. The LED lights are really quite bright, and the lanterns themselves are lightweight and sturdy. My original intent was to use one to light one of my bedroom closets after the ancient light fixture in there gave up the ghost. I placed the lantern on a shelf in the closet and saw that one lantern illuminated the entire closet space very well. In the interim, I've had that fixture replaced, but I'm keeping these lights handy around the house in the case of a power outage. They're just as good as Maglites, and easy to carry. AA batteries for all four lanterns in the set are included, and it's just a matter of keeping enough batteries on hand to resupply. The light is easy to turn on by simply sliding the top portion of the lantern up (and you can control the amount of light by sliding the top portion up or down part-way). There's no fiddling with any on/off switches. And they're handy. You can simply slip your hand (if it fits) through the handles and have essentially hands-free carrying. Good investment and IMO, good output of light for what I need them for.

This product exceeded expectation. The latern was very bright using only 3 AA batteries. Also the footprint was very small, so storage was efficient. Activation was easy, just pull up the main body. A little over $5 per latern, it was inexpensive. I highly recommend it.

This review is after one use, may update later. 350 lumen is pretty bright so if you are using it to light up an area it may be intense if it is in your field of vision. We had to put a grocery produce bag over it to dampen it.

As described, very bright light.Good for emergency usage like power outage.

I had bought some years ago. I forgot to take the batteries out hence, it corroded making them unusable. I bought these new ones and first thing I did was to take the batteries out. When I need to use them, I'll put the batteries back in. I love these. The light is very bright and are handy when the power goes out.

I especially like how when your close the cover all the way it turns the light off instead of having a separate switch. I also really like how the carry handles fold down and fit onto the side snugly, keeping the cover from popping up, thus no accidental powering up the light.It's a plastic housing that seems like it'll stand up to some abuse but I don't plan on testing out its sturdiness since it seems line a rigid plastic with little to no flex.The light is very bright and evenly brilliant, which is going to be nice when camping . I've tested it in a totally dark large room for shadows and other lighting flaws before camping season begins (if winter ever ends here in Virginia ) and slid the cover up and down to bring up or down the amount of light filling the room. Since I got 2 in the package I can see this being used on both ends of a picnic table at night for playing cards and stuff to make things a little more fun/safe vs my old propane camp lanterns.I would have felt I got a good deal with just 1 light at the price I paid but getting a second one at no extra cost (plus included batteries) makes it a much better value for me and my family will enjoy them as well because of not only the excellent light but the features I mentioned in the first paragraph.

Not so bright and dims with time. Nothing special which makes them overpriced.

They came well packaged and when tested, they all worked. I like that there is a compartment for extra batteries. They feel solid and well constructed.I bought them for an upcoming week long camping trip.If they do not perform properly or there are any issues, I will update my review. But as it stands I am very happy with my purchase.
