Great Puppy Food
This is a great food for Great Danes. It meets all of their dietary needs and is much easier to order on Amazon than trying to find in local pet stores!

My boy has been eating this since he was a pup. He's two now and we've had no issues with this brand. His coat is healthy, shiny and soft. No skin issues or problems with his stools. It probably depends on the dog and breed though. He's an English Setter.

HOLY BARFCICLES BATMAN!!! <may be misleading
So I have been on the Buffalo Wilderness bandwagon kick for about a year with my German Shepherd and I really didn't know what I was missing until I switched. German Shepherd dogs are notorious for having sensitive stomachs to particular foods, and let me tell you now, Buffalo Wilderness dog food is one of them. I have read site after site and post after post of people who are looking for a better food than buffalo wilderness for their GSD. AND THIS IS IT!!!so my experience goes a little like this...when I first got my GSD the breeder was feeding this dog Purina, PURINA? you say? yes, and not Purina one, the gigantic 100lbs bags of purina for $20. so after rescuing this dog from food hell, I brought her home and already had a big bag of delicious Buffalo Wilderness for large breed puppies waiting for her. when she first ate, she was excited about the food. but then she started to throw up after a few hours. not a big deal considering her GSD genetic code for sensitive stomach and mostly the fact that I didn't have any garbage dog food on hand to help wean her off of and slowly incorporate a more nutritious, balanced food for her. I gave it a few weeks, but my GSD was throwing up at least 2-3 times a week. so for about 2 months my dog was on the Buffalo brand before I started doing more research. as I was doing research, all I could find was people who loved giving their dog Buffalo Wilderness with life source bits. and it was hard to veer off of that trail considering that Buffalo brand is highly advertised as the best one and only dog food known to man. well this is incorrect. for the first year of my dogs life she had nothing but Buffalo brand dog food of different types to try and counter the barf attacks. after a while I started finding little bits of posts from people talking about Wellness dog food, and the funny thing is, they described my dogs situation to the last detail. and after I found it on Amazon, I was sold. so after the food was delivered, that night I started to slowly get my dog used to the food by following the chart provided on the back of the Wellness bag. and I have not seen my dog enjoy food more than the time she finally got something besides purina, YUCK! with the Buffalo food, she would be hesitant of eating food and would only eat maybe once a day and would do everything she could to stay away from the food and it became a chore to try and get her to eat. but the second I put a little bit of Wellness in her food, the world changed. she gobbled up her food, was excited about it and for one reason or another, has not thrown up once since she has been on it, we are about half way through the bag now and she is still excited to eat her food. she eats when she is fed now and doesn't pretend like it isn't there. this dog food has saved my dog the agony of heaving and more importantly, MY CARPETS. this dog food has been a godsend and I will continue to use it from here on out. look up Wellness dog food and how it compares to Buffalo brand if you want specifics

First observations with monthly updates to follow
I'm on my 9th GSD and this is the first time I have spent well over 1.00 a pound on dog food. It's a dog and most dog foods are more nutritional to a dog than most humans diets are to humans. Janice, put down the ice cream! The reason I tried this food is to compare my past GSD's health to one raised on "premium" dog food". THe GSD's were all foreign bred, except the first one. All earlier GSD's were working dogs with the exception of one which had bad hips. He was 102 pounds and lived to 13 years old on normal food. You could count his ribs, he was just a large dog. Average age of life was between 11-12 years. Now the food. It appears to be well made given the ingredients, packaging, and companies reputation. The pup eats it when hungry so no problems there. Stools are normal firm. After a week there is nothing to tell beyond this, but I will regularly update the observations each month. I'm doing this for me as an experiment and is limited to one dog raised exactly like my other 8 were. We'll see if there are any tangible benefits to a "premium dog food diet". Those that say this isn't a premium dog food feel free to contribute to the "Good time Charlie" fund and I'll feed their 2.00 a pound core food. I hope this will give some insight to myself and others as to the relevance of feeding a premium dog food. Totally unscientific and self serving.Update Feb/14/15: Our pup when offered this food alone isn't attacking it. Stools were somewhat loose. When offered the old brand I used for years, he loves it, and stools are less frequent and firm. The problem is he scratches from dry skin. This may have nothing to do with any food element. Wellness was helpful and we are going to switch to Core food. We'll know in about a month what the results are pertaining to dry skin and if it is food related. For now, not much to say validating expensive food.Update Mar/22/15Switched to Wellness Core grain free and am happy with it. Beautiful coat, healthy, but still has dry skin. Not as bad as before being switched to the Wellness products. If you can afford a decent food, feed it. This seems to be doing it's job. Their are others I am sure so try them out but at least give them a 2 month try before deciding if it's for your dog.
