It is a good tool to copy surfaces. I used it to install simil rocks plaques to the wall doing the cuts to the exact shapes.

This contour gauge works well for my uses. I read many of the reviews before purchasing, especially the <4 stars category. I haven't experienced any of the issues those reviewers claimed.

Much prefer to the old metal version I had. Gives pretty accurate contours for rough cuts. Seems sturdy and durable. But, have only used about ten times.
