Wonderful tool-so glad I purchased. Easier to not get hands wet-efficient as well!!!!!
Excellent use-arrived as planned-quick. So much better than my smaller python. Sucks up garbage in substrate fast without a lot of debris I water. I love all you have to do is squeeze the plastic handle near the bucket (following the directions with the right direction facing that way so water goes that way-two letters are there) and just start pushing the rectangle part areounc the subsrtste and clean you will have!!!If you are doing just a water change in a large aquarium there is a clip and you attach it and do whatever cleaning or filter changing and it takes water out QUICKLY - so for me either way, I have to bend the tube or hemostat it in order not to lose too much water. So you can slow that down by raising your bucket up or bending the hose. If you bend the hose awhile when you get it it becomes more flexible as it is pretty stiff brand new. Personally-I love this over any other. I’m very glad I purchased it. I don’t have to clean the substrate so much because it does such a great job. My small aquarium especially. It has two connectors.I recommend this product for sure. Just squeezing the bottom area to get the water flowing is a major plus. And it keeps flowing! Or just squeeze. Control. Finally. I can stick it in the substrate and put items in the bucket to clean, stop the flow, change filter and rinse WITH AQUARIUM WATER AS TO NOT KILL beneficial bacteria. Then finish cleaning substrate, put filter and biomechanics cleaned in aquarium water in bucket back.... then put in the cleaned items and fill with treated water (preferably already in my distilled containers waiting) also I have distilled water for my shrimp). Then turn off lights and maybe feed a little just cus they know me and expect a snack.Hope this helps someone. If so hit helpful. It would have helped me. Also important: testing water before and after if you are nee. You are eager to put fish in a new tank. Some will live some won’t. Research tank set up. K? 😉

Didn't believe it would work for my purpose...
Tadpoles appeared in my dog’s kiddie pool and the water level needed to be lowered as it was already at the edge. I first looked at electric vacuum gadgets as I didn't think a manual one would be sufficient for this amount of water. But, I decided to try this anyway as I had already spent over $200.00 on aquarium products for these “stray” tadpoles. There was a concern that the openings might be too large and would suck out the tadpoles; to avoid this, I attached a mesh vegetable bag over the end. To my surprise, this manual vacuum quickly removes large amounts of water.Durable: I've been using this product for almost 2 years; it stays outside and has survived the hot Texas sun.Versatile: It works great to transfer water. For example, after the tadpoles, I use it to do regular cleaning of my dog's pool; in the past, I had to remove the water by dipping it out with a bucket. Also, I keep two large trash cans outside to collect rainwater for the garden; this gadget has been a great help to transfer the rainwater to the garden.

It works
It works. It does not suck the yuck from the bottom/rocks like I assumed but it does work. It does it more easily, and takes longer than I thought. It is still so much better than emptying the tank to clean. It does suck water out fast!!!

As advertised
As a first time aquarium owner, I found this easy to set up and use. Hand pump makes it easy to get the water flowing. Made my first big water change easy. Easy to clean out too. Got some gravel in the hand pump, but no big deal. Just unscrew it from the end caps and shake the gravel out. Not much else to it. Good product.

I love it so much I ordered a second one
Best siphon I've ever used. I used plastic canvas mesh to add a baby shrimp guard over the existing guard, and I fit it into my generic python to drain water 20 feet away into the tub. The ball thing makes starting the suction so much easier than any other method. There are two rigid sections so it will be the correct size pretty much no matter what size your tank is. I also find the green color appealing. I ended up ordering a second one because I wanted to have one that just has the regular guard for my non-shrimp tanks, and then I use the special shrimp guard I made for my shrimp tanks. If you need really strong suction, like say for common pleco poops, I recommend removing the guard altogether. It has the best suction that way. But even with my extra fine guard, it vacuums up fine mulm easily.
